AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player. She is captain and striker for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) which is the highest division of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team alongside Carli Lloyd and Megan rapinoe from 2018 until 2020. In the months following her graduation early from the University of California, Berkeley and playing for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen as the number one overall pick during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. She made her debut at the club , and also helped the team win its league championship. Morgan was 22 at the time, and was the youngest member of the national team at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. In the 123rd minutes of the semi-final match against Canada in the 2012 London Olympics she scored the match-winning goals. She finished 2012 with 28 goals, 21 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman to score 20 and 20 goals. This made her the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to score 20 goals in a single season. She was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year and was an FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan also assisted in helping the United States win their titles at the 2015 and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, which included her on the Dream Team for both tournaments and also won the Silver Boot in 2019.
