Born in Barbados her family listened to reggae and started singing when she was quite young. To escape her parents' tensions and also her parents' constant fights and arguments, she began to sing. When she was in high-school when she started forming an ensemble and was a part of the auditions for Evan Rodgers. Evan Rodgers was impressed by her talents.
